Bayston Hill Memorial Hall committee is responsible for the building’s fire safety arrangements but hirers are responsible for running their own activity safely, supervising attendees and following the hall’s fire procedures.
A map of the building showing escape routes from each of our rooms is available on the notice board within the hall - please ensure you have site of it during your hire/use.
Our emergency procedure
Should you discover a fire immediately let everyone in the building know by repeatedly shouting 'FIRE'. Dial 999 and call the fire service - even if the fire appears to be minor. On hearing the 'FIRE' call
Close internal doors if safe to do so.
Leave the building from any of the available fire exits and make your way to the meeting point: the wall in the car park.
USE THE NEAREST EXIT
DO NOT STOP TO COLLECT PERSONAL BELONGINGS
DO NOT RE-ENTER THE BUILDING UNLESS AUTHORISED BY THE FIRE OFFICE OR PERSON IN CHARGE
When all persons can be accounted for, request drivers of vehicles to move their cars if needed to allow entry for the Fire Service.
Escape routes and exits
Exits, corridors, fire doors and escape routes at Bayston Hill Memorial Hall must never be blocked - including by tables, chairs, buggies, bags, decorations or equipment.

Please adhere to room capacities for each room.
Users with additional needs
Please be aware, and make appropriate arrangements, if there are young children in your party/group or those that may need additional support to exit the building.
Fire hazards specific to hall use
There is a no smoking policy for the whole of the building. Burning of incense or similar and the use of candles is also forbidden.
Kitchen/fire precautions
When using the kitchen or electrical equipment, please ensure appliances are used safely and are not left unattended whilst switched on. All cooking and heating equipment should be turned off after use, and any spillages or combustible materials should be kept away from heat sources.
Reporting faults or concerns
Any faults, damage or safety concerns relating to appliances, electrical equipment or fire safety provisions should be reported to the Hall Committee as soon as possible on 07378 534946 - as this is a volunteer-manned phone if the call is not answered please leave a message outlining the fault or concern.
