Each year the High Sheriff of Shropshire makes a number of personal awards to recognise the work of individuals and organisations within the County who have made outstanding constributions to the communities in which they live or work.
In 2026 the volunteers of Bayston Hill Memorial Hall were announced as a recipient. Committee members Allan Caswell, Anthony Florian and Rhea Alton received the award on behalf of all of the volunteers who support the hall - from the committee to the starts of the annual fundraising pantomime and everyone in between!
The award citation read during the presentation was as follows:
"Established in 1924, Bayston Hill Memorial Hall is the heart of its community, thanks to the dedication of its volunteer committee. Over recent years they have raised more than £300,000 to transform and modernise the hall, ensuring it remains accessible, sustainable and well used. With 82 volunteers giving around 23,000 hours annually and over 60 groups using the hall, the committee continues to plan ambitiously for the future."
Thank you to all of those who support Bayston Hill Memorial Hall!
